Photowalk: Our Island Art Exhibition on May 11th

By | April 8, 2019

TLDR; A photowalk with the Our Island Art Photo Exhibition and Photowalkers Taiwan, sponsored by CyberLink, to benefit Father Moal, who has dedicated his life in service of the people of Yuli.

Theme of Our Island

TEPC’s guiding philosophy is that photography is part of a larger social interaction and that photographers must be engaged in the community. As part of the exhibition “Our Island”, the TEPC group and Photowalkers Taiwan are holding a joint photowalk on Sunday, May 12, 2019 beginning 1 PM with the theme – “Our Island”.

The aim is to enjoy the exhibition exhibits before coming together and setting off in pursuit of our own island.

Program of Events

  • 1pm – Meet at the Gallery for Introduction
  • 1:15~2:00pm – Exhibition Inspirations
  • 2:00~2:15pm – Walk Begins
  • Event finishes by 6:00pm

Facebook Event

The event has been announced already on Facebook, so you can go there to click ‘attend’ or ‘interested’. It’s not a requirement to do so, but it will help to know how many people are coming.

Photography and Tips

Bring extra batteries and cards for your camera. Phone cameras can be used, too, but you may need to add a powerbank.

We’re expecting a variety of photo opportunities: architecture, city scapes, street photographs, night market scenes, and even a modicum of nature in urban environments.

We’ll also be shooting outdoors in daylight, in golden hour, and indoors where the light drops. Photographs taken are eligible for the Photography Competition: Category III.

There will be opportunities for tripod use, but they are awkward to carry in tight spaces.

Walk Conditions

This is not a difficult walk, but precautions for rain, heat, & sun are suggested. Shoes need to be comfortable. There’s should be convenience stores to stop for essentials (like water, sustenance, and – if necessary – some ice cream). However, parts of the walk are expected to be crowded, so photography may be difficult. In crowds, always keep track of your wallet and handbags; pickpockets are rare, but they do exist.

Weather Links

May weather shouldn’t be too hot, but there is a risk of rain and thunderstorms. Come prepared.
