I’ve been entering photography competitions for a while. I don’t expect to win anything but it’s a way to hone my conceptual, editing and curating skills.
While it’s also quite a fruitless effort at times, I try to focus on the theme of the event and shoot/curate to that. In that sense, providing a finished set of images is the challenge, and the reward.
This is one of the first was on architecture. I chose these three images for the Art of Archticture Competition.
I think I didn’t get selected because none of the photos portrayed a whole building, only features of the building. I also think the editing didn’t meet their glossy high standards. But without content matching the theme, it’s not even a starter! Onwards & up!
First time i’ve shot film for 30 years!
Sharing here… you might find Big Note helpful in LR. I like to keep notes. I’m so disorganized – I have notes in WordPress, SimpleNote, several online files… This might help me to be more focused and write what I’m thinking about when I finish editing. Useful for re-edits, and you?
